John Cramer Collection

Dr. John Cramer is an emeritus professor of physics who taught at Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven, GA. Dr. Cramer also happens to be an incredible collector, particularly of molluscan diversity, and has catalogued this entire set of specimens himself. He has discovered new species of land snails, has collected from diverse sites globally, and has been working on a complete record of land snail diversity from all of the counties of Georgia. As we often say, our museum is a "collection of collectors and what they collected" and John is an extraordinary malacologist who donated over 2100 specimens in 2024, as well as spending time to reassess the taxonomy of a large number of other molluscan specimens going into our catalog.
